Peloponnese Seeks Cooperation with Chongqing

By Wu Xiao, iChongqing News On Dec. 20, Mr. Tatoulis, the Regional Governor of Peloponnese of Greece, attended the Chongqing and Peloponnese Economic and Trade Cooperation Meeting held in Chongqing to seek deep communication and cooperation with Chongqing in business, trade, tourism, and culture.

Hear about what’s in each other’s bucket

The Economic and Trade Cooperation Meeting brought together the Peloponnese delegation and Mr. Qin Dingbo, the Deputy Director of  Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, Mr. Deng Wennian, the vice chairman of Chongqing Council for the Promotion of International Trade as well as representatives from Chongqing’s outstanding enterprises. As a continuation of yesterday’s meeting between the Mayor of Chongqing Municipality and the governor of Peloponnese, the two sides took the occasion to hear about what’s in each other’s bucket and seek common ground for cooperation.

Chongqing and Peloponnese both serve as the strategic transportation hub. Chongqing is located in the conjunction of the Belt and Road and the Yangtze River Economic Belt. It enjoys well-connected land, water and air transportation. Peloponnese, as the geographic center of the Mediterranean sea, is the sea corridor between Europe and China. The transportation advantages of Chongqing and Peloponnese were addressed by both sides and believed the advantages pave the way for further cooperation.

To develop good tourism products

Mr. Qin Dingbo signed Memorandum of Understanding with Mr. Tatoulis on tourism and culture. “Peloponnese region plays a very important part in the history of Europe. Its civilization can date back to Aegean Civilization. We believe this meeting provides us with a great opportunity to know more about the culture and tourism resources of Peloponnese. And we are willing to cooperate with Peloponnese to develop good tourism products.” Said Mr. Qin.

Peloponnese Smark Park and business park promoted

“The industrial parks in Chongqing can be connected with Peloponnese Smart Park. The parks of Peloponnese will make it easier for Chinese companies in import and export. It will give the opportunity for Chinese products to create a bigger value as it will be marked as European products.” Said the governor to iChongqing. He promoted the Peloponnese Smark Park and business park during the meeting, in a hope that Chongqing enterprises could join the complex park with container port, warehouse, and convenient transportation.

“Chongqing is the representative of the Eatern civilization. It shows how dynamic and beautiful China is. Europe can have conversations with Chongqing, and we will bring this conversation even closer based on the mutual understanding of the two civilizations that lead humanity nowadays.” Mr. Tatoulis told iChongqing.
